As of December 16, 2025, Payments has released the ability for creators to issue, mid-PLOT partial and full refunds! Meaning Creators can now issue PLOT refunds while their Backer's PLOT payment schedule is still active.
How it Works:
When the Creator initiates a refund MID-PLOT, the system prefers to reduce or cancel uncollected increments first, then refund collected funds as needed. Creators specify only the refund amount; the system handles the logic for which increments are adjusted or refunded.
Example:
For a $150 pledge paid in 3 x $50 increments, with $100 already collected, a $120 refund request would:
1. Cancel the uncollected third increment ($50)
2. Refund the second increment ($50)
3. Refund $20 from the first increment
All refunds are also grouped into a single RefundCharge for easier tracking and cost saving for Kickstarter! In addition, we have a whole slew of new PLOT increment and pledge level labels to help Creators and Backers know just what's happened or happening to their PLOT payment after a refund takes place.
