Edit Your Backers' Orders

Plans change, and now you have more flexibility to help backers get the rewards they want. With order editing in Kickstarter Pledge Manager, creators can update backers’ orders after a campaign ends, from upgrading rewards and adding add-ons to adjusting survey responses and issuing refunds.

Order editing works alongside other Pledge Manager tools that give backers more flexibility after checkout, including the ability to add add-ons themselves when a creator enables the option.

This feature has been in beta for the past year, giving us time to hear directly from creators, learn how they use the feature, and improve the experience based on their feedback. We're continuing to refine Order Edits throughout the rest of the year, with more improvements to come.

What creators can do:

• Upgrade a backer from one reward to a reward tier of an equal or higher value, with an automatic refund issued to the backer for the original reward tier’s tax and shipping
  
• Add an add-on for a backer
• Adjust survey responses for a backer
• Issue a full refund or partial refund on an edited order
  

If configured by the creator, backers can:

• Adjust their survey responses after completing the PM checkout
• Add add-ons after completing the PM checkout

Once the adjustments have been selected, the creator will see the total charge, as well as any refunds that will be made as a part of the order edit.

For reward upgrades, applicable taxes and shipping from the original reward will be refunded automatically once the backer confirms the updated charges.

Backer experience:

Once a creator submits an order edit, the backer can review and approve it. They’ll see any new charges, including the cost of an added add-on or upgraded reward, plus applicable shipping and tax. For reward upgrades, shipping and tax from the original reward will be automatically refunded once the backer confirms the updated charges.

What's next:

We're continuing to expand order editing throughout the rest of the year. Coming soon, creators will be able to downgrade rewards, and backers will be able to upgrade their own rewards when creators enable the option. These updates will give both creators and backers more flexibility to make changes after a campaign ends.
