Self-Serve Backer Removal for Live Campaigns
Creators can now directly remove backers from both live and successful campaigns, without needing to go through a support request.
This update gives creators a faster, self-serve way to manage their community during a campaign, especially when dealing with spam, harassment, or other disruptive behavior.
Previously, removing a backer from a live campaign required submitting a request and waiting for review. That often meant delays for creators who needed to act quickly.
Why we made this change
With this update:
- Creators can respond immediately to problematic behavior
- The process is more transparent and predictable
- It reduces friction when managing active communities
This brings the live campaign experience closer to the tools already available after a campaign ends, where creators can refund and remove backers directly.
What’s new
Creators now have three ways to remove a backer:
- Comment actions menu (⋯ next to a backer’s comment)
- Backer modal (via a backer’s name on a comment)
- Backer Report flow
How it works
For live campaigns:
- Select “Remove backer”
- Confirm the action
- The pledge is cancelled, the backer is removed, and they are notified by email
For successful campaigns:
- Select “Refund & remove backer”
- You’ll be taken to the existing refund flow with the full refund pre-filled
- The backer is removed once the refund is processed
Backer notifications:
We’ve updated the notification email so backers clearly understand:
- Their pledge has been cancelled
- The removal was initiated by the creator
- What this means for their contribution
